Moats Park batting cages are updated
| As with all great baseball parks, there
is always ways of improving. This year the Fairview Ball
Association and the FV Summer League choose to update the
batting cages at Moats Park in Sherwood.
Volunteers worked in early May to
pour concrete floors inside of the batting cages. Before the
batting cages had a loose material as a floor, almost like pea
gravel, that made keeping a batting stance quite difficult. Now
with the concrete floors in place, batters can concentrate more
on hitting the ball and not loose their footing.
Take a look below for some additional
pictures provided by the Fv Ball Association of the days work. |

Concrete
floors were recently installed in the Sherwood Batting
cages. The project was initiated by a memorial fund to the
Fairview Summer League by the late Roger Guilford, long time
supporter of youth sports in the community. Other material
donors include LaFarge Corporation, Pahl’s Ready Mix, Steve
and Jennie Nichols, Sherwood Park Association, and the
Fairview Summer League. Donating labor and equipment were
front row, Bill Wendling, Jim Guilford, Gary Guilford, Tom
Guilford, (3 of Roger’s sons), back row Lavon Wiles, Bill
Grinnell, Toby Nagel, Joe Nester, and Rich Groves. Missing
from the picture was Greg Wonderly. A dedication ceremony
was
held Saturday, May 6th, at the leagues
opening day and chicken bar-b-que.
